Gently does it as Landia mixers save energy in Sweden
Slow-speed mixers from Landia have made significant energy savings at the Borås Treatment Plant in Sweden. The reduction in energy costs has also been achieved by installing just 3 Landia mixers per aeration basin, compared to 11 per basin installed previously.
As well as using less power, the introduction of Landia’s POP-I 3kW-180 rpm mixers has also saved on electrical installation contract costs due to less cabling, reduced costs to electrical boards – and reduced mounting costs.

And in addition to the lower purchase price, the Borås Treatment Plant is also benefitting from reduced costs for parts, reduced stock of spares and a massive reduction in man-hours for maintenance.

To meet nitrogen discharge levels set out by SEPA (The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency), the Borås municipality’s four-phase upgrade of its treatment plant included a major rebuilding of the existing activated sludge treatment works.
