ArcQuality Management system from Kemppi
Kemppi OY is introducing a brand new advanced and innovative welding quality management system designed to monitor MIG/MAG and TIG welding operations. Called Kemppi Arc System 2.0 – ArcQuality, it is available through Kemppi UK . Until now many welding projects undertaken in fabrication industries have had minimal qualitative proof that the welding was completed using approved parameters, filler materials and qualified personnel, so the one question being asked is how much do fabricators really know about the quality of their welded components.
The Kemppi Arc System 2.0, module ArcQuality provides an accurate and formal solution by measuring and identifying WPS deviations outside certain parameters and recording the errors. By comparing the information collected against qualified welding procedure specifications, it provides a solution to define and verify welding quality, avoiding deviations that can result in serious quality issues if left unchecked.

Features of this system include ensuring welders hold valid and up to date qualifications, arc and non-arc time reporting, creation of non-conformance reports, automated data collection, welding equipment management tool and anticipates service needs and records service history, Web based reporting and WLAN technology all resulting in improved quality of work, a reduction of expensive reworking costs, automated monitoring and the easy creation of project documentation, as well improved support for the welder, quality and management personnel

The system offers an easy and comprehensive way of ensuring that weld procedure specifications are carried out correctly as well as enabling the user to anticipate the equipment’s servicing needs. In addition, a smart scanning device collects quality-related documentation, for traceability of every individual weld.

How does it operate? Well, It starts to work before actual welding is begun, the welder’s first task is to log into the ArcQ system using the ArcQuality Smart Reader. By scanning the bar code on their personnel identification name tag, the welders professional qualifications are identified.

Scanning and recording the WPS bar code ensures such variables as qualifications are suitable and in date. Filler material and shielding gas selection is also scanned, compared and verified. The ArcQuality Smart reader LCD screen communicates WPS compliance or deviation using bright green or red screen alerts, ensuring the welder is reliably informed and able to take suitable corrective action if required before welding, avoiding costly downtime and rework.

Quality office reporting monitors welding activity and WPS compliance from all ArcQuality active work stations, allowing swift supervisory intervention should local warnings have been missed or ignored, whilst ArcQuality data records can be securely read via a secure Cloud based service from any location worldwide.

ArcQuality is compatible with all euro connected MIG/MAG equipment, transferring data via a wireless LAN, serving single or multiple site users, producing clear and factual reporting.

Mike Pixley, Kemppi UK Ltd, Managing Director said: ”Arc Quality is the first in the World to offer an easy and comprehesive way of recording all of a company’s welders are qualified for the job and that all welding procedures are adherred to including the traceability of individual welds. In otherwords the fabricator is able to manage all the factors that affect the quality and productivity of welding using a single system.”
