Inmoco Introduces Industry's Most Compact All-In-One Ranges Of AC Powered Linear & Rotary Servo Actuators
The new Exlar Tritex II range from Inmoco is industry’s most compact all-in-one ranges of linear and rotary servo drive actuators. By combining the latest electronic power technology with advanced thermal management modelling technology, the Tritex II actuators set a new benchmark for electric servo actuator performance versus size. They integrate an AC powered (1.5kW) servo drive, digital position controller, brushless motor and linear or rotary actuator in one stylish, compact, sealed package.
Tritex II actuators are the highest power density, smallest footprint servo drive devices on the market. They give users the ability to distribute motion control, solve application problems and reduce the size of machine designs with one integrated device. Moreover, operation of the Tritex II is just a matter of connecting AC power, I/O, communications – and then run: it’s that simple.

With their integrated mechanical converters, Tritex II actuators eliminate the need for traditional ball screw or gear reducer mechanisms. They also incorporate all the required position control and power electronics into the actuator itself, thus providing a complete system; one that dramatically reduces space requirements, and also cost, as the servo amplifiers and cables required with traditional servo systems are eliminated.

The Tritex II actuators overcome the problems of lack of power associated with conventional integrated actuators. With forces to approximately 18 kN (continuous) and 44 kN (peak) available, users are not restricted to the small output forces or low speeds that make many motion applications unachievable. As a result, they can incorporate a fully electronic Tritex II solution in place of their existing hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder, and also eliminate troublesome ball screw actuators or bulky servo gear reducers in many applications. The ability of the Tritex II to be employed widely is enhanced by its ability to provide maximum reliability over a broad range of ambient temperatures; -40degreesC to +65degreesC.

Operating from 100 – 240Vac supplies, the Tritex II actuators provide the convenience of direct connection to factory power sources. They also offer the performance benefits of built-in software features, including 16-programmable indexes, linked moves and firmware flash upgrade capability via the actuator’s Modbus port. This port, via a RS/485 protocol, allows complete control, programming and monitoring of all aspects of the Tritex II actuator as it performs an application. In addition to Modbus, further communications options available on the Tritex II actuators include Ethernet/IP, HART, Modbus TCP/IP, CANopen, and CAN J1939 protocols.

Complementing the compact dimensions of the Tritex II actuators for easy integration into machine designs, is an ample I/O capability: 8 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs, plus one analogue input and output, and a choice of feedback options, including analogue Hall effect (standard), incremental encoder for high positioning resolution, and an the absolute feedback option, which will be available later this year. In addition, the Tritex II design offers excellent connectivity, with internal terminals accessible through the actuator’s removable cover, and the provision for Imperial or metric threaded ports for cable sealing glands: optional M23/M16 connectors for power and I/O, with an M8 connector for the RS485 port.

Tritex II linear actuators provide the same form factor as hydraulic and pneumatic actuators and provide for simple, clean all-electric retrofits in what were formerly fluid power applications. They are available with many different mounting options (metric or Imperial) such as front flange, rear clevis mount, side mount, trunnion mount, extended tie rod, and rear flange.

Tritex II rotary actuators are available in standard IEC metric dimensions. Direct drive units, as well as units with integral planetary gearing, provide compact, powerful solutions for most rotary applications. Custom mounting and options for both rotary and linear actuators are available to meet a wide range of installation requirements.
